I have been an admirer of this maker for many years, for a time I used one in chamber concerts where the sound it produced was greatly admired. To me he seems the obvious maker to go for if you are keen on J. B. Vuillaume as he worked for him and had a hand in many of his instruments.
This violin was made in 1866 for the exhibition that year. The varnish is worn where the player's shoulder and chin have rubbed it (this violin predates chinrests of course) but that is proof of it's fine playing qualities. In first class condition I rate this maker highly for the professional violinist as it delivers all you need
