Francois Nicolas Voirin circa 1870

As a young player I hugely enjoyed playing on a Voirin, there was a clarity in the sound plus an extraordinary speed of articulation, he is a tremendously gifted maker. Here is a bow just to look at in wonder, the frog and button are made from Ivory and rose gold, they are believed to be later editions and not original.

The head has a clavette repair to the head, recently done with the very best modern glue it good for about thirty years or so, a stunning example in beautiful condition. The stability on the string allied to remarkable balance set this bow out against most other bows. It has a sinewy classic sound quality loved by players of the past like Elman, Menuhin and Sarasate.

An extremely rare bow by this gifted maker at his apogee.
