Hippolyte Camille LAMY 1875 - 1942 sold enjoy your bow orla!

January 14, 2024

Made circa 1915 and weighing 61.5g this is a wonderful honest bow from this interesting period in the violin bows evolution. A direct contemporary of Eugene Sartory, indeed for a number of years even sharing a workshop it is clear H C Lamy admired his work and put several of his ideas into his own bows. Having had a hard playing life it is slightly worn in places, but made from the most stunning pernambuco, a lovely bow.

My objective is to bring fine bows to players, to advise on suitability of bows for various playing styles and to marry appropriate bows to clients’ violins. I am committed to restoring fine bows to their former glory both from a historical and an ecological standpoint.
