Justin Derazey 1867

The son of Honore Derazey, Justin often worked with his father in the workshop. This superb example is a tremendous Guarneri del Jesu copy, with the most beautiful soft red oil based varnish. This violin is currently in the workshop and will be available in the late spring of 2026. The beauty of owning a violin from the Derazey family of course is the fact Honore worked for Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume at the same time as this instrument was made. Using similar varnish and wood, to me this offers the violinist on a budget a violin very close in many ways to a Vuillaume, but on a tiny budget in comparison.

This violin has a sound post crack in the back, further reducing its price. This will in no way affect the eventual violin after restoration as the patch in the back will be first class. A win win situation for a player wanting a first class violin on a budget.
