Dominique Peccatte circa. 1865

March 9, 2024

Here is a fine bow well known to PHB staff as we sold it many years ago to a fine player, now retired they would like it to be used professionally and to continue its busy life! I remember buying this bow many years ago from a main dealer in Paris, the moment I saw it I decided it was for me!

It has a clavette repair to the head, repaired in Paris some twenty years ago it is utterly secure, especially so since the wood is amourette rather than pernambuco, a more forgiving wood in many ways. Replica frog and button were made in France at this time for the bow.

The bow is a top flight Peccatte both aesthetically and from a playing point of view, it just is a remarkable example in beautiful condition.

Above is the ‘old school’ Jean-Francois Raffin certificate that comes with this beautiful bow, a commission sale, for the owner, you won’t find a better quality Peccatte for this price anywhere else! Grab it while you can!

My objective is to bring fine bows to players, to advise on suitability of bows for various playing styles and to marry appropriate bows to clients’ violins. I am committed to restoring fine bows to their former glory both from a historical and an ecological standpoint.
